Strength Takes Shape Here.
Forging advanced alloys is about more than force. ATI controls temperature, pressure, material flow and microstructure to create forgings with the strength, consistency and precision critical applications demand.
Microstructure by Design
Forging isn't just about shape. ATI controls temperature, deformation and material flow to develop the microstructures that give advanced alloys the strength, fatigue resistance and durability their applications demand.
Force Meets Precision
From isothermal and hot-die forging to complex closed-die components, ATI combines enormous forming capability with tight process control to produce critical parts from some of the world's most difficult-to-forge materials.
From Ingot to Finished Forging
ATI's capabilities span open-die and rotary billet conversion through isothermal, hot-die, closed-die and ring forging, connecting more of the manufacturing process under ATI control.
Model It Before We Make It
Advanced modeling and simulation help ATI predict material flow, temperature and deformation before metal enters the press, helping optimize forging processes, reduce development cycles and get difficult components right.
Forge Capabilities
The Right Force for the Form
Different alloys, geometries and applications demand different approaches to forging. ATI brings together a broad range of thermomechanical processes-from billet conversion to highly controlled finished-component forging-to match the process to the material and performance requirements.
Convert the Material
Sub-header?
Transform ingot into billet and intermediate forms while developing the material structure required for downstream processing.
Key Capabilities
- Open-Die Forging
- Rotary Forging
Control the Microstructure
Precisely manage temperature and deformation to forge difficult high-performance alloys for the most demanding applications.
Isothermal
Cudahy, Wisconsin
Massive Presses
Our isothermal forging capability in Cudahy, Wisconsin features three isothermal presses, including one of the world's largest isothermal presses. The unique design of this strain-controlled, high-tonnage press, rated at 12,500 tons, allows it to forge larger-diameter, close tolerance forgings required for today's high efficiency jet engines.
Superior Technology
Our patented SuperCooler™ technology enables us to produce highly sophisticated components that have differing mechanical properties in different parts of the same piece for greater resistance to fatigue and temperature effects.
Key Capabilities
- Weight: up to 2000 lbs. (900 kg)
- Diameter: up to 45 in (up to 1155 mm)
- Materials: Titanium Alloys, Nickel-based Superalloys, Powder Superalloys
Hot-Die
Irvine, California
Near-Net Forgings
