Built for decades of service. Proven across generations of the fleet. ATI produces advanced materials for naval nuclear propulsion and critical systems engineered to perform in demanding marine environments.
Why ATI

Proven beneath the surface. Built for the fleet.

For nearly seven decades, ATI materials have helped power U.S. naval nuclear propulsion, from some of the Navy’s first nuclear-powered submarines to today’s advanced fleet. We produce the specialty materials engineered for decades of service in environments defined by heat, pressure, corrosion and exceptionally demanding performance requirements.

Heritage: Nearly Seven Decades. Still Going.

ATI's specialty-materials expertise in nuclear applications dates to some of the U.S. Navy's first nuclear-powered submarines. Today, we continue that legacy through long-term partnerships supporting the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program, including a strategic agreement with BWXT extending through 2030.

Materials: Made for Decades at Sea.

Naval environments put extraordinary demands on materials: corrosion, heat, pressure and long service lives with exacting performance requirements. ATI combines deep materials science with proprietary processing technologies to produce highly engineered specialty materials for critical naval applications.

Scale: When the Fleet Needs It, Scale Matters.

Advanced material is only useful if you can produce enough of it, consistently. ATI's vertically integrated manufacturing capabilities and long-term investments help deliver critical defense materials at the quality, scale and certainty of supply required by long-duration naval programs.

Naval Propulsion

Nuclear Propulsion | Submarines | Aircraft Carriers

Power for the long haul.

Nuclear propulsion gives submarines and aircraft carriers the endurance to operate for extraordinary periods at sea. Deep inside those propulsion systems, materials must perform reliably through demanding combinations of heat, corrosion and long service lives.
What’s the challenge?

Decades are measured differently at sea.

Naval nuclear materials are engineered for operating lives measured not in hours or individual missions, but across decades of service. Their chemistry, quality and consistency have to meet exceptionally demanding requirements from the start.

ATI Advantage

Nearly seven decades of nuclear materials expertise.

ATI combines materials science, proprietary processing technologies and manufacturing scale to produce highly engineered specialty materials for the U.S. Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. Our nuclear-materials heritage reaches back to some of the Navy's first nuclear-powered submarines - and continues through long-term partnerships supporting today's fleet.

Built for the Sea

Naval Structures | Pumps & Valves | Decking & Superstructures | Torpedo & Missile Launch Systems | Appropriate Armor/Protection Applications

Saltwater never takes a day off.

Beyond propulsion, naval vessels spend decades surrounded by one of the most corrosive environments on earth. Pumps, valves, structures, decking and launch systems all put different demands on the materials that keep the fleet operating.
What’s the challenge?

Corrosion is relentless.

Continuous exposure to saltwater and marine environments attacks materials over time, while naval structures and mechanical systems must simultaneously carry significant loads and deliver long-term durability.

ATI Advantage

Materials made to stay in the fight.

ATI produces titanium, nickel alloys, stainless and specialty steels for demanding naval applications - from pumps and valves to decking, superstructures and launch systems. Our materials combine corrosion resistance, strength and durability for equipment designed for long service at sea.
