Why ATI

We Know the Material. Now We Can Print It.

ATI brings something different to additive manufacturing: decades of materials science, powder expertise and critical-component manufacturing, combined with a purpose-built facility designed for production. From alloy development and part design through printing, heat treatment, machining and inspection, we control more of the process under one roof.

Materials Made to Print

It starts with the powder. ATI doesn't simply print commercially available alloys. We develop and produce advanced powder materials engineered for additive manufacturing-including titanium, nickel and refractory alloys designed to improve printability and push performance further.

Go Big. Get Complex.

Additive changes what's possible when conventional manufacturing requires too many pieces, too many joints or can't efficiently create the geometry. ATI combines large-format printing with advanced process control to produce complex, near-net-shape components at extraordinary scale.

Print Is Only the Beginning.

A critical component isn't finished when it leaves the printer. ATI integrates printing with heat treatment, cleaning, 5-axis machining, dimensional inspection and advanced non-destructive testing to take complex builds toward finished customer requirements.

A Start-up Mentality Backed by Decades of Expertise

ATI has expanded beyond traditional manufacturing to leverage powder-to-print finished part solutions, becoming a key player in the aerospace, space, and defense additive finished components markets.

Powder-to-Part Process

1. Design

Design for what additive makes possible.

Engineer complex geometries around customer requirements, performance and manufacturability.

2. Powder

Performance starts with the material.

Select or develop powder alloys engineered for the application and additive process.

3. Print

Build complexity layer by layer.

Laser powder-bed fusion and other additive technologies transform powder into complex near-net-shape components.

4. Heat Treat

Engineer the properties after the build.

Controlled thermal processing relieves residual stresses and develops the mechanical properties the application requires.

5. Machine & Finish

Take near-net shape to final requirements.

Cleaning, build-plate removal, grinding and 5-axis machining bring components toward final dimensions and specifications.

6. Inspect

See what the eye can't.

CMM, CT scanning and digital measurement verify external dimensions, internal geometries and material integrity against demanding customer requirements.

Additive Manufacturing Capabilities

Printing is one step in producing a finished component. ATI's purpose-built additive operation brings large-format printing, controlled processing, heat treatment, machining and advanced inspection together to take complex parts from powder through finished requirements. ATI's facility was explicitly designed around that integrated approach.

Build at Scale

Sub-header?

ATI combines multiple printer platforms to match equipment to part size, geometry, material and production requirements-from smaller precision components to complex metal builds approaching five feet tall. Its largest system uses twelve 1,000-watt lasers and supports the tallest metal additive builds in the Western Hemisphere.

Key Capabilities

  • Laser Powder Bed Fusion

Control the Build

Headline

Complex builds can run for extended periods, making process stability critical. ATI designed the facility around uninterrupted power, controlled inert atmospheres and material handling capable of moving parts weighing thousands of pounds-protecting quality and keeping large builds moving through production.

Key Capabilities

  • UPS Generator
  • Argon System
  • Gantry

Develop the Properties

Sub-header?

Printing creates the geometry. Controlled post-processing develops the material properties required for the application, including vacuum heat treatment to relieve residual stress and optimize mechanical performance.

Key Capabilities

  • Heat Treatment
  • Post-Processing

Finish & Verify

Sub-header?

ATI carries additive components through machining and advanced inspection to meet demanding dimensional and quality requirements. CMM verifies precise geometries, while CT scanning can examine complex internal features that conventional inspection can't readily reach.

Key Capabilities

  • 5-Axis Machining
  • CMM
  • CT Scanning
  • Digital Measurement
